Medical and Pharmaceutical Marking: Reliable Production of Unique Items

The question of uniqueness—single or double, ID twin or not—does not arise when tubes, Petri dishes, vials, and other medical or laboratory items are labeled with the PMG Pharma ID labeling system.

The combined barcode and database solution ensures seamless serialization of products, preparations, samples, and packaging, thanks to a certified inspection device that prevents duplicates.

The production of these labels, which are used extensively in the pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology, diagnostics, and medical technology, prioritizes maximum security to ensure that no product has the same number.

PMG specializes in barcode labels, RFID labels, and security seals, making it one of the leading suppliers of marking, serialization, and anti-counterfeiting solutions across various industries.

With the development of PMG Pharma ID, the company targets innovation in the healthcare sector worldwide, aiming for maximum product security in supply chains, clinics, practices, and laboratories. The primary goal is to prevent confusion by guaranteeing absolute labeling security in serialization processes for unique products.

For instance, an internationally operating manufacturer of diagnostic products, laboratory equipment, and biotechnological research materials uses PMG Pharma ID to mark millions of products annually with the highest process reliability, ensuring their uniqueness.

Barcode Labeling: The Foundation of Serialization Solution

PMG produces millions of securely serialized barcode labels each year, sized at 41mm x 9mm (1,6142 Zoll x 0,3543 Zoll), ideal for marking all manufactured medical and laboratory items. They exhibit high resistance to weather and temperature variations, as well as disinfectants and sterilization agents due to their material composition.

Various label types for different product lines, each with individual numbering sequences, are manufactured for the customer. Beyond the numbering sequence, the chosen symbology, Code 128, encodes product data, batch numbers, machine information, date, time, and label type. Customization options include the addition of images, logos, or text. Labels are typically delivered as rolls, with customer-oriented ordering and reliable, short delivery lead times due to in-house production.

Readability and Database Verification

For PMG's customer, who specializes in manufacturing medical and laboratory products, it's essential to maintain consistently high label quality, as labeling is not their core competency. PMG Pharma ID ensures quality through several methods, including immediate machine readability inspection after printing.

A certified testing device, meeting ISO/IEC 15426-1 and ISO/IEC 15426-2:2015-08 standards, evaluates each label based on quality parameters, such as reflectance, decoding, quiet zone, symbol contrast, modulation, code defects, and decodability. Only labels meeting these specifications remain on the roll.

Serialized marking with PMG Pharma ID includes the assignment of a unique product number. The certified inspection device not only assesses code quality but also transmits reading information to PMG Pharma ID's central database. In real-time, each label is checked to ensure it hasn't been generated before. Any duplication is marked and removed, although this has never occurred in the millions of barcode labels produced by PMG Pharma ID.

In cases of process errors, appropriate precautions have been taken to ensure that every label on a product is unique.

Production Environment Aligned with EC-GMP Guidelines

In designing the label production environment, PMG adheres to the EC GMP Guideline, Annex 1. This guideline specifies stringent purity requirements for sterile products to minimize the risk of contamination with microorganisms, germs, or particles.

PMG Pharma ID labels are produced and packaged in aseptic environments with high levels of purity and minimal RNase and DNase presence. This guarantees the cleanliness of the labels during the labeling process at the customer's site.

High-quality barcode labels, produced in high quantities, are always securely readable, serialized without duplication, and managed by a central database. PMG Pharma ID, as a technically reliable and economically efficient solution, proves itself in practice for uniform and globally accepted medical device labeling.
